Mourning Experiences of Families of Dead Infected with COVID-19: A Qualitative Study

Background: With the outbreak of Coronavirus, many restrictions are imposed on processes a funeral procession, ablution, burial, mass mourning, and memorial gathering family, relatives, friends, neighbors. Objectives: Given lack research mourning experiences families dead infected with coronavirus, present study was to fill this gap in literature. Methods: In qualitative study, some semi-structured individual interviews were carried out Bu Ali Sina Medical Educational Center, Sari, Iran, 16 individuals who selected using purposive sampling method. The recorded, transcribed, encoded, categorized, data analysis performed Graneheim Lundman’s approach. Guba Lincoln’s criteria also adopted ensure reliability validity. Results: Four main themes (namely psychological, behavioral, physical reactions, virtual regretful feelings rejection fear) twelve subthemes extracted from collected data. Conclusions: According results, COVID-19 changed personal social lives Coronavirus different perspectives. regard, providing support during period would help them better adjust such changes causing loss family member.
